On December 30, 2013, the Hadar Foundation celebrated 20 years of the founding of the foundation with Hadar scholars, alumni, friends and family at the Merkin Hall in Manhattan. Over 160 people listened to guest performances by talented musicians, an opera singer, two actors and a poet. Richard and Mica Hadar were presented with a yearbook created by over 65 of the Hadar Scholars and an award for inspiring hundreds of young artistic talents over the past two decades. A special feature of the evening were two films by filmmaker Frank Cantor created to showcase the foundation’s work including testimonials by Geoffrey Canada, the founder of The Harlem Children’s Zone and Deborah Bial, the President and Founder of The Posse Foundation.
