For generations, New York City has been an internationally recognized center for the arts. From Duke Ellington to Jackson Pollock, many artists who have gone on to revolutionize their fields made their names right here in the Empire State. As citizens and elected officials, it is incumbent upon us to carry this tradition forward by fostering an environment in which the arts can thrive and by prioritizing arts education.
Since 1993, the Richard and Mica Hadar Foundation has helped the next generation of great New York artists get a chance to pursue their dreams in whatever medium they choose. With nearly 200 scholarships already awarded, you have made a significant difference in the lives of students, their families and the audiences that will someday soon benefit from their work.
Through your generosity, you contribute to New York’s legacy as well as to its power as a nursery for future achievements in the arts. For that, and for your enduring dedication to the students in this State, you have my deep appreciation and congratulations.
Warmest regards.
Sincerely,
David A. Paterson
